3 counties to host Deer Advisory Council meetings on Monday
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - Deer Advisory Councils in Portage, Marathon and Vilas County will gather Monday to discuss what this fall’s deer season should look like. Each county in Wisconsin has a County Deer Advisory Council to provide input to the department on deer management within their county. Councils work with local department staff to review population data and deer impacts on forests and agriculture. That information is used to develop three-year plan on county population objectives and create annual antlerless harvest quotas.

UWSP softball enters back in win column with double-header sweep of UW-River Falls
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) - Coming off a 3-2 loss to UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday, the Pointers brought in a pair of victories in a double header over UW-River Falls. In Game one, UW-Stevens Point was initially struggling vs. Falcons fifth-year pitcher Maggie Wallin, who struck out six of her first nine batters. Ultimately, the Pointers broke free with an RBI single from junior catcher Rachel Beker in the bottom of the fourth. The Pointers would pad on three more runs while blanking the Falcons 4-0, thanks in part to freshman pitcher Morgan Hardwood securing the win and sophomore pitcher Ashley Zygowski securing a save. Zygowski would break the school single-season saves record, now increased to 12.
Pacelli and Amherst baseball split doubleheader, Cardinals win game two by 20 runs
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) - Pacelli and Amherst would even out a double header Saturday morning in Wisconsin in a tale of two matches. In game one, the Falcons escaped with a 5-2 victory to start the day on a high note. Game two, however, ended earlier than anticipated with Pacelli steam rolling over Amherst with a 22-2 win in five innings. After that matchup, Pacelli would ultimately outscore Amherst on the day 24-7.
UW-Stevens Point’s planetarium offers shows in May
STEVENS POINT _ Travel the greater universe this May at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Allen F. Blocher Planetarium. Planetarium shows will be offered on the Sundays of May 5 through May 12. A special youth focused program for families will be offered at 3 p.m. May 5, with story time followed by a show.
