Laney's Curry, Topsail's Austin lead StarNews Athlete of the Week Poll

As we've hit the final stretch of the spring sports season, conference rivalry games are producing big performances.

We start in girls lacrosse, where Topsail senior Lillian Austin scored 18 goals and dished out seven assists across three games last week. Austin scored nine goals in Thursday's win over Croatan.

In softball, South Brunswick freshman Olivia Brown showed poise as she recorded five RBIs, a double and a triple off two hits in the Cougars 16-5 win over Ashley on Tuesday.

Finally, Laney softball's MaKenzie Curry stepped up when the Bucs needed her most, delivering nine strikeouts and notching one RBI in Laney's crucial 3-2 conference victory over South Brunswick Friday.
