Fishing Fair returns to Pere Marquette State Park
The Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair will be back for its 35th edition on Saturday (June 8) from 10am to 4pm at Pere Marquette State Park. The fair features free fishing-themed activities for kids and adults all day long at the park near Grafton. The event usually draws several thousand people.
Goffenas’ new Ashley Furniture store opens in Troy
Members of the Goffena family and city of Troy officials, as well the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce and its ambassadors, celebrate cutting the ribbon on the new Ashley Furniture store at 1831 Towne Park Drive, Troy, on Thursday. The grand opening will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday with food trucks, ice cream and giveaways. The regular hours will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Matt Goffena and his sons, Drew and Evan, are the fourth generation owners of the family furniture business that includes stores in Sidney, Dayton and Lima as well as the Troy location.

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — A man was struck and killed Tuesday night while crossing Interstate 64 in Chesterfield. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at about 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, 46-year-old Michael Hamm of O'Fallon, Missouri, was crossing westbound I-64 near Boones Crossing when he failed to yield to an ongoing car and was hit.
Residents concerned after boats burn near Mississippi River
PORTAGE DES SIOUX, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is investigating a fire involving several boats left in a pit near the Mississippi River. The Rivers Pointe Fire Department responded to the incident Saturday afternoon. Chief Rick Pender said the fiberglass materials and chemicals like oil and fuel left in the boats had caused clouds of black smoke and a blaze that took several hours to extinguish.
