Stateson Homes, the largest home builder in Southwest Virginia, has changed how people buy new homes in the Northern Neck. They began here in February 2022 with offices in the former Hills Quarter clubhouse, without a model house, and a guarantee to build a completed new home in six months. Since then, they’ve sold 44 homes, with 12 currently under construction. “Although Hills Quarter has been around for 19 years, there was not a commercial builder in the Northern Neck who could build things quickly,” says Brenda Helmandollar, Stateson’s Northern Neck sales manager. “No one believed we could do it when we started here, but we proved we could.”

City of Williamsburg moves forward with African American Heritage Trail development
The narrative for a new African American Heritage Trail will be developed by marketing agency JMI in collaboration with the community, the City of Williamsburg announced. Founded by Williamsburg native Ken Johnson, the agency will collect personal stories from residents, facilitate community conversations, work closely with the African American Heritage Trail Advisory Committee and connect with local historians and researchers.
