JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – This summer the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reported moderate levels of hemorrhagic disease (HD) activity in the deer population. MDC confirmed HD in deer in Cole, Greene, Howell, Miller, St. Louis, and Webster counties. They also had 305 reports of additional suspected HD cases from locations throughout the state, according to MDC.

The L-LIFE Park Party held Saturday, Sept. 16 in Boswell Park saw about 1,000 total partiers who enjoyed some free grilled burgers, games and prizes. L-LIFE Development Director Angela Fries said the event, which drew about 30% more people than last year, had the simple primary purpose of spreading the word that L-LIFE and its free food distribution program exists. “In 2019, I learned that people still did not know the pantry existed after being open for nine years, so I tried to come up with a way to let everybody know L-LIFE was there,” Fries said.
