Teagan O’Dell Falls Just Short of National High School Record at CIF-SS Championships. One of the top high school swimmers in the country nearly knocked off a national high school record Saturday when Teagan O’Dell of Santa Margarita Catholic High School came up just shy of her own record in the 200 IM. At the CIF-Southern Section Championships, O’Dell won the 200 IM in 1:53.63, the second-fastest time in high school history behind her own national record 1:53.38 she swam at last year’s California State Championships.
Casey doubles at Mountain League Track and Field Finals
Last year, Vince Casey set the Santa Ynez school record in the long jump and qualified for the CIF Central Section divisional record in the process. This season, as a senior, Casey has broken his own school record in the long jump and qualified for the section divisional meet in three more events - the triple jump the 100 and as part of the Santa Ynez 4x1 relay team.
Righetti, St. Joseph score upset playoff wins in volleyball
Righetti took down top seed Templeton, and St. Joseph upset Clovis East in quarterfinal action in the CIF Central Section Boys Volleyball Playoffs Thursday night. Both Foster Road rivals came from behind to win. No. 9 Righetti beat Templeton 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21) in Division 3, and No. 6 St. Joseph edged No. 3 Clovis East 3-2 (15-25, 25-21, 14-25, 15-11) in the first round of Division 1.

Bob Cantu’s annual sports camp returns
– Paso Robles native and PRHS Class of ’92 graduate Bob Cantu, who owns Marv’s Pizza and Sports Bar, is back at it for his 28th annual Basketball Camps. Cantu who coached at the elite levels of college basketball is back home and says he is excited to continue his popular basketball camps in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.

– Jakob Wright gave up two runs in each of the first two innings at UC Irvine but held them to one hit over the next five. The Cal Poly Mustangs rallied in the 8th to beat Irvine 10-5. The former Bearcat left the game after 109 pitches over seven innings.
