Groesbeck Track Team Sprints into Success, Secures Spots at Area Meet

The Groesbeck High School boys' and girls' track teams delivered standout performances at the district meet, with several athletes securing spots in the upcoming area competition.
The boys' team showed its strength in the relay events, with the 4x100 and 4x200 teams consisting of Wesley Bush, Chris Cox, Trent Platt, and Jordan Smith, finishing 4th both times and advancing to the area meet. Additionally, the 4x400 team, composed of Braden Ramirez, Christian Torres, Legend McLean, and Trent Platt, also finished 4th, advancing to the area meet.
Individually, Jordan Smith shone in the 100m, finishing 1st, while Cyler Corn dominated in the Shot Put, also finishing 1st. Corn also secured 4th place in the Discus event. Braden Ramirez showed his endurance, finishing 2nd in the 800m, while Legend McLean took 4th place in both the 800m and the 1,600m events. Damien McLean's impressive performance in the 3,200m earned him a 3rd-place finish.
On the girls' side, Mahoganie Washington led the way, advancing in the 100m and 200m events, where she placed 2nd in both. She also showed her versatility with a 4th-place finish in the long jump. Nayeli Moreno showcased her strength in the 3200m, securing her spot in the area meet.
