SALISBURY — Three Guilford County men were arrested on Sunday after deputies said they fled from a traffic stop before being stopped and found to have multiple loaded guns in the vehicle.

The incident began at approximately 2:19 a.m. when a deputy noticed a red Chrysler traveling at a high rate of speed on the northbound side of Interstate 85, said Captain Mark McDaniel, a spokesperson for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy then reportedly got behind the vehicle and paced it at approximately 110 mph before attempting to stop it near the Julian Road exit.

McDaniel said that the driver of the Chrysler failed to stop, continuing to drive north on I-85 at the same rate of speed before taking the Jake Alexander Boulevard off-ramp. The Chrysler then allegedly ran through a solid red light before driving back onto the interstate and speeding up to approximately 120 mph. The driver of the vehicle also turned the exterior lights off after getting back onto I-85 and began erratically switching lanes, according to McDaniel.

Eventually, the Chrysler stopped after another deputy joining the chase positioned his vehicle in front of it in a way that forced it to slow down, said McDaniel. The deputies then reportedly detained all three of the occupants of the vehicle and searched it.

Two loaded guns, a Glock 32 and a Smith and Wesson M&P .40 caliber, were reportedly found in the glovebox and another loaded gun, a Glock 19, was reportedly found underneath the back seat. Both the Glock 32 and Smith and Wesson had rounds in the chamber, said McDaniel.

Jordan Marqwez Gibson, a 24-year-old Browns Summit resident, was identified as the driver and charged with felony flee to elude and misdemeanor speeding. Gibson was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $25,000 bond by Magistrate Jeff Morris.

Jamerius Damaja Hayes, a 25-year-old Greensboro resident, and Jamil Tahjai Moore, a 23-year-old Greensboro resident, were charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun because the handguns were found in the area of where they were sitting. Both Hayes and Moore were released on written promises to appear by Morris.
