GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Investigators pulled a vehicle that had long been submerged from a lake in Greensboro on Thursday afternoon, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Police are at the scene at Buffalo Lake near East and West Cone Boulevard pulling the vehicle.

Investigators say the submerged vehicle is a sedan that “has been there for a long time.”

Remains found in Catawba County identified as 23-year-old Winston-Salem woman missing for year

The car was pulled from the lake at around 2:50 p.m.

On Wednesday, the GPD was contacted by a boater who detected a submerged vehicle in the lake.

Due to unfavorable search conditions Wednesday evening, local dive team members gathered at the site on Thursday morning to begin work to recover the vehicle.

The vehicle will be processed for any potential evidence as investigators work to determine who owned it and establish how long the car may have been in the lake.
