INDIANAPOLIS — One person has died and another is hospitalized following a Monday morning crash in Greenfield.

According to Greenfield PD, around 10 a.m., responded to a serious crash in the parking lot of Community Health Network office building located at 740 W. Green Meadows Drive.

Officers located a male and female who were both injured.

Despite life saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment but is expected to survive.

Preliminary investigation shows a Shred-It box truck was being operated by an employee at the time of the crash.

The operator was outside of the vehicle, operating the document shredding mechanism of the truck, when the truck lunged forward, striking a parked vehicle, the two pedestrians, and another parked vehicle before coming to a stop.

The operator of the truck is fully cooperating with investigators and has submitted to a blood test, which is protocol for an accident resulting in serious injury or death.
