Green River to host two off-road events
Over the next month, Green River will host two off-roading events: the Watermelon Crawl, in its fourth year, on March 24-25, and the Green River Dirt Bike Rally, in its third year, on April 13-15. Robin Hunt, the events coordinator and marketing specialist for the City of Green River, said the events draw tourists and locals alike.

On Tuesday, the Green River City Council met for its regularly-scheduled meeting. Korrin Olson kicked off the meeting with a presentation about childcare on behalf of USU Eastern. Fun on an OHV at the Fourth Annual Watermelon Crawl
I had to do a little research to find out what watermelons had to do with OHVs. To begin with, Green River has some amazing OHV trails to ride. It is also known for its delicious watermelons and it is now the host of an OHV jamboree in Utah. Digging a little deeper, I learned that you don’t drive watermelons, you drive OHVs hence, The Green River Watermelon Crawl.
Pinnacle boys end Green River’s season at 1A State Championships
The Pinnacle and Green River boy’s basketball teams met for final time in the 2022-2023 season on Thursday in Richfield. Two times they met in Region 23 play this season, with Pinnacle winning both. This time Green River used a big fourth to get back into the game but the Panthers did just enough to hold the lead and take the 46-43 win.
Lady Pirates end season with loss to Bryce Valley at 1A State Championships
The Green River Lady Pirates have been competing in the 1A State Basketball Championships at the Sevier Valley Center on the campus of Snow College in Richfield since Wednesday, and after dropping their second round game to Wendover found themselves with a do or die contest against Bryce Valley on Thursday afternoon. Green River hang in there with No. 10 Bryce Valley but the Mustangs proved to be too much and ended the Lady Pirates season 53-41.

Wendover Too Much for Green River
The second round of the 1A State Basketball Tournament was not kind to #15 Green River when the team faced #2 Wendover. The Wildcats quickly went on the attack, doubling up the Pirates 12-6. Green River was set to host both the boys’ and girls’ basketball games on Saturday for the first round of the 1A State Tournament. But before the boys could touch the floor, they received word that Diamond Ranch Academy would not be coming.
