Man charged with first-degree murder in Blue Springs double homicide
BLUE SPRING, Mo. (KCTV) - A Raymore man is charged with first-degree murder for a double homicide at a Blue Springs park. Jackson County prosecutors charged 20-year-old Marquis Earl Lee Savannah for the shooting deaths of 19-year-old LaDronal Hamilton Jr. and 20-year-old Karmello Matlock. The two men died after they were shot at Wilbur Young Park on April 13. Savannah is also charged with armed criminal action in connection with the shooting.

One dead in two-car crash on U.S. 24 Highway
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - One person is dead after a crash on U.S. 24 Highway Wednesday afternoon. It happened at approximately 4:45 p.m. at 24 Highway and Grand Ave. Police said a 1998 Vulcan motorcycle was trying to pull out into traffic from a parking lot and collided with a flatbed trailer being pulled by a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.
Anesthesiologist pleads guilty to taking fentanyl from Lakewood Medical Center
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Roman Peplinski, of Kansas City, Mo., pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday for illegally taking fentanyl from a Lee’s Summit, Mo hospital, for his own personal use. Peplinski, 37, waived his right to a grand jury and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to federal information that charges him with one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, forgery and deception.

Blue Springs man charged with attempted arson in Johnson County
JOHNSON COUNTY — A Blue Springs man is charged with attempted arson and unlawful possession of weapon following an incident in rural Warrensburg Wednesday. The probable cause statement says a Johnson County deputy arrived to the scene of the residence and allegedly found David James Bates holding a wind proof butane lighter and a bottle of cologne.
Odessa occupants injured in vehicle accident
JACKSON COUNTY, MO - A vehicle accident injured two residents of Odessa Wednesday afternoon. State troopers say Rebeca Wacker, 27, was the driver of a vehicle that lost control while slowing for traffic at the 20-mile marker of westbound I-70. It overturned after hitting a concrete barrier. Wacker and Samantha Ives, 29, were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
