Naples-based fashion designer supports teen who was denied entrance to prom
A surprise for a high schooler who was kept out of her prom. On Tuesday, we told you that Sophie Savidge wasn’t allowed into the dance because she was wearing a suit instead of a dress. Now, she’s getting support from a Naples-based fashion designer Peter Jean-Marie. Jean-Marie...
Judge Judy, Bob Seger, Newt Gingrich: Celebrities who call Naples, Marco Island home
With Judge Judy in the news recently for filing a lawsuit in Collier County, it's a good time to revisit famous people who call Southwest Florida home. Judith Sheindlin ― a part-time Neapolitan ― made headlines this week when she sued Georgia-based media companies for publishing an article headlined "Inside Judge Judy’s Quest to Save the Menendez Brothers Nearly 35 Years After Their Parents’ Murder."
Naples restaurants: What are the oldest ones left when Old Naples Pub closes May 31?
With the news Monday that Old Naples Pub would be closing May 31, that leaves one less Collier County restaurant that's been around for at least three decades. As Naples Daily News food and restaurant journalist Diana Biederman first reported, Old Naples Pub would close after opening in 1990. The popular pub tucked away and just off Third Street South served as a go-to after a few hours at the beach, with its casual "come-as-you-are" vibe. ...
'We love this place!': Naples residents react to Old Naples Pub closing
Does it really boil down to pickle jars topping the tables?. On Facebook, missing them is an overwhelming sentiment. "Sad, we love this place! Always brought our out of town guests here," wrote Sherry Fulton on Facebook under the Daily News' story, which broke the news Monday of Old Naples Pub closing at the end of the month.
Where to find restaurant meal, drink deals to kick off summer in Naples, Marco & Bonita
While I’ve always thought the season unofficially ends on Mother’s Day, this year, it seems the crowds left after Easter. Several restaurateurs behind some of the hottest, newest restaurants in town said 2024 was an uneven season; during any given day in the same week, their dining rooms veered from packed to paltry, making food purchasing and staffing forecasts unpredictable.
🥟 Dim sum, deals, doings 🍸+☕
You’ve got Diana this week, and coincidentally nearly everything we’re listing begins with D – dim sum, deals and doings. As someone who could easily make a meal of dumplings ‒ and plans to do so over several days when going back to NYC to see friends ‒ I might pre-game my June vaca, head to North Naples and give 'em a go.

The Studio Players grapple with ‘Doubt’
Doubt isn’t necessarily a negative thing. A faith that’s doubted can become stronger in the questioning. Even the apostles doubted. But in “Doubt: A Parable,” performed by The Studio Players (through May 19), Sister Aloysius (Rhonda Davis) is full of certainty. She has her eye on Father Flynn (Danny Cancio). She feels there is something “off” about him. She suspects he’s involved with Donald Muller, a 12-year-old student in the school where she’s principal. She asks the student’s teacher, Sister James (Sharon Isern), to keep an eye on matters and report back to her. Further complicating the issue: Donald is the school’s first and only Black student. (The play is set in the Bronx in 1964.)
Inspired by her grandmothers, Naples High School student creates 'Drawing for Dementia'
NAPLES, Fla. — On a car ride home with her father, Gabi Boyd began to think. She had just visited her grandmother who has Alzheimer's disease, and presented her with a piece of art. The joy both of them got in return made Gabi want to help others feel the same way.
