Local funeral homes to offer free American Flag exchange ahead of patriotic holidays
RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Woody and Nelson Funeral Homes are teaming up to host a free American Flag exchange ahead of Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the Fourth of July. Residents are welcome to exchange their old, torn, or soiled American Flag for a free new 3′ by 5′ flag. Retired flags will be given proper disposal in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code under the auspices of The Virginia War Memorial.

RICHMOND, Va. — Protests over the Israel-Hamas war have spread across U.S. university and college campuses in recent weeks, leading to disruptions and arrests. Some demonstrations extended into weekend graduation celebrations, although they were muted in comparison to the encampments and rallies that have roiled campuses and resulted in nearly 2,900 arrests of students and other protesters.

The Henrico Theatre Company will present “Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein” May 10-11 at 8 p.m. and May 12 at 3 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Five performers will explore the duo’s songs in different styles, including popular hits “If I Loved You,” “In My Own Little Corner,” “The Sound of Music,” “Shall We Dance?” and more.
