    The 17th annual RavenCon Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention will take place at Virginia Crossings in Glen Allen April 26-28. The event will feature a range of activities for fans of all ages, including autograph signings, panels, workshops, readings, and concerts. Two well-known science fiction and fantasy writers and curators will be in attendance: Ursula Vernon, also known as T. Kingfisher, who has written more than 15 books for children, more than a dozen novels, and the webcomic Digger; and Ellen Datlow, who edits sci-fi and fantasy short fiction for Reactor.com and Nightfire Books and has won numerous awards for her work. Count Gore De Vol, also known as Dick Dyszel, will attend the event as well. Tickets good for the entire weekend are $55 at the door.     The Treasures of the Earth Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show will take place at Richmond Raceway on April 26 from noon to 6 p.m. and on April 27-28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show features estate, classic, handcrafted and fashion jewelry made from a variety of metals, as well as crystals, beads, minerals and fossils.     Henrico Recreation and Parks will host Dorey Day on Friday, April 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road in Varina. All ages are invited to enjoy a bounce house, giant slide, Miss Sheri the Clown, outdoor games, arts and crafts, and fitness demos. Concessions will be available for purchase.     Meadow Farm at Crump Park will host the 2nd Annual Farm Field Day on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event will showcase the agricultural and farming practices, trades, and crafts of days past. Local craftsmen and businesses will be demonstrating their trades and selling their wares. There also will be crafts, folk music and food trucks.     Magician Braden Carlisle will present a family-friendly magic show at the CSz Richmond Theater, 8906-H West Broad Street, on Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. In his home state of Colorado, Carlisle has performed a monthly sold-out magic show for 68 consecutive months. His shows appeal to all ages and relies on a lifetime of practice and performing experience.
