Chillicothe City Council accepts bids for park projects and approves new ordinances
The Chillicothe City Council approved four ordinances on May 13. Two ordinances accepted the lowest responsible bids for the parking lot asphalt overlay at Danner Memorial Park and the replacement of the roof on the Chillicothe Street Department building at 30 South Mitchell Avenue. City Clerk Amy Hess reported that the accepted bid for the asphalt overlay was from Capital Paving for $181,360 with the prevailing wage increase. The accepted bid for the roof replacement was from Freedom General Contracting for $49,750.

Light to moderate precipitation fell across the Midwest, with the heaviest rain falling in eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, southern Indiana, and western and central Kentucky, all of which saw improvements. Continuing precipitation is aiding in the rebounding of soil moisture and groundwater and keeping streamflows at good levels. The convergence of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Arkansas saw improvements with the rain that fell this week.
Trenton City Administrator details storm damage and street work updates
In a written report submitted to the Trenton City Council, City Administrator Ron Urton detailed storm damage and street milling work. Urton reported that storms during the first weekend of May damaged four hangar doors at the airport’s north hangar building. He noted that repairs cost about $2,500 and the city plans to file a claim with its insurance company.
Trenton Board of Education reviews scholarships, contracts and discusses future plans
At the Trenton R-9 Board of Education meeting on May 15, Superintendent Daniel Gott reported on the scholarship money awarded to Trenton High School seniors recently. He said $77,239 was awarded to seniors in external scholarships and $87,874 in institutional scholarships. Additionally, $278,640 was awarded to students who qualified for the A+ Program and plan to attend an A+ school. Gott said that amount represents the value of a two-year education at a community college for all seniors who will use A+.

The Laredo Board of Aldermen heard updates on May 13 on the sewer construction project. City Clerk Mercedes Scobee reported that Simco Contracting is issuing submittals to McClure Engineering.
