Southern Tier Health Care System Receives Federal Grant
WASHINGTON — Southern Tier Health Care System Inc. has received $120,348 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program. “This grant underscores a shared commitment to ensure that residents in Southwestern New York have access to the highest standard of holistic healthcare services,” Donna L. Kahm, the organization’s president and CEO, said. “The Southern Tier Health Care System is dedicated to working with our federal partners to offer a wide range of tangible assistance to our underserved communities.” According to the USDA, the funds will be used to provide training opportunities for health care professionals to better address opioid and substance-use disorders and mental health care. “This significant federal investment in Southern Tier Health Care Systems will allow them to bolster their staff training and services in Cattaraugus County,” Rep. Nick Langworthy, who announced the grant Tuesday, said. Langworthy’s district includes the Greater Olean area. Southern Tier Health Care System is headquartered in Olean.
