Walmart Wellness Day is Saturday
Woodburn Walmart will join other stores around the region in hosting Wellness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18 Free glucose, cholesterol, BMI and blood pressure screenings will be available, along with affordable immunizations for COVID-19, RSV, tetanus, hepatitis and HPV at the pharmacy. Additionally, professionals from the Northwest Hub will also be at the Woodburn Walmart from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to provide bicycle inspections for cyclists ages 5 to 16 years. Walmart, located at 3002 Stacy Allison Way, is joined in partnership for this event by the Woodburn Police, Woodburn Fire and Northwest Hub. It is scheduled to take place at the west end of the parking lot near the maple trees.

I was pleased to see The Oregonian/OregonLive Editorial Board endorse state Rep. Maxine Dexter for U.S. Congressional District 3, (“Editorial endorsement May 2024: Elect Maxine Dexter in Democratic primary for 3rd Congressional District,” April 17). Dexter is my long-time colleague and I’ve watched her transition into the role of policy maker with interest. Woodburn senior Hilaria Trevino compiled a score of 36-over 178 at the OSAA 5A girls golf state championships at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis on May 13-14 to finish 13th and headline local performances. Salem pedestrian dies from injuries in May 5 hit-and-run near Lancaster Drive
A 75-year-old Salem man died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run May 5 near Lancaster Drive SE, the Salem Police Department announced Monday. Emergency responders were called to the 4100 block of Rickey St. SE at approximately 11:40 a.m. on May 5 after a man crossing the street was struck by the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene.

Salem hit-and-run victim dies days later
SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - A man hit by a truck in a hit-and-run in Salem died three days later. Around noon on May 5, police and medical responders were called to the 4100 block of Rickey Street Southeast after a man crossing the street was hit by a truck. The truck then left the scene.
