FDOT gives presentation on plans to resurface sidewalks in Bonifay
The Florida Department of Transportation is looking to resurface sidewalks in Bonifay, a plan they presented information on during an open house Monday, May 6. The project would cover State Road 79 from U.S. 90 to north of County Road 177. The project is intended to improve pedestrian walkability and is also looking to enhance lighting along the corridor.
Brightspeed employees picket following email response from corporate
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — A disconnect between the local union of Brightspeed, an internet service provider, and their corporate office. On Saturday in Enterprise, the local CWA union of Brightspeed workers gathered to hold an informational picket outside their building. They want better pay, a cap on overtime, and sick days that will be separate from their already designated paid time off.
Bonifay looking for new public works director
The City of Bonifay is looking to fill an opening for its public works director position. “Our public works director has left his position to take another position elsewhere, so we are advertising for his position,” Deputy City Clerk Tracy Walker said during a City Council meeting Monday, May 6. “We will be closing this position on 5/17 at 3 p.m. and start the interviews on 5/20.”

Vietnam veterans grateful for community support at pancake breakfast
This past Saturday, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1036 held it annual pancake breakfast. The event was held at Bonifay Country Club with over 425 people attending the event. For that we say Thank You. We thank all of our volunteers who made event the success that it was. We thank all of the employees of Bonifay Country Club under the supervision of the general manager Frank. From the generosity of the people attending, we surpassed our goal. Once again, we say THANK YOU to all of those who supported our Chapter and the event.
Enterprise man sentenced in security guard slaying
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) - An Enterprise man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the death of a bar security guard. Emmanuel Key, 33, was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2019 killing of Stevie Franklin. During the three-day trial in March, evidence placed Key at the Daleville Lounge on the night of the shooting.

Bozeman set to host Chipley in 1A baseball playoff opener Tuesday
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Several area baseball teams are preparing for state playoff openers this week. Among the 1A teams getting set to go head to head in their 1A region semifinal Tuesday are Chipley and Bozeman. Coach Andy Compton and his Tigers will be coming south to take on coach Patton and the Bucks tomorrow night in their first round playoff game. Chipley coming into this season as the defending 1A state champs. They backed that up with a 13-8 regular season. Then added a win in the district semifinal round over Sneads, but lost to Cottondale in the 1A-3 title game last Thursday.
