BR sports roundup: Boys tennis, soccer finish seasons at state championships
The Bear River boys tennis team picked up a singles win at the 4A state tournament last week in Salt Lake City. In No. 1 singles, after dropping the first set, Lawrence Rigby bounced back to defeat Logan’s Kort Larsen 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals. In that round, Rigby fell to Jackson Holman of Desert Hills in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Prep baseball: Riverhawks bow out of state tournament
It was a must-win situation for a pair of Region 11 teams Tuesday afternoon at Cate Field in the 4A state baseball tournament. Sadly, they were playing each other for the right to stay alive. USU men’s basketball: Robinson named assistant head coach
Less than 24 hours after announcing his associate head coach, Aggie men’s head basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun has named one of his assistants. Mantoris Robinson was announced as an assistant to Calhoun early Wednesday afternoon. Robinson will be following Calhoun to Utah State from Youngstown State, where he was on the Penguin staff the past two seasons. The new assistant has 12 years of college coaching experience.
USU men’s basketball: Haut named associate head coach
While new head Aggie men’s basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun has been on the job for more than a month, his staff has not been officially announced. Names have been mentioned by fans on social media, but the university has not listed any. That changed on Tuesday when Utah State made it public that Eric Haut had been hired as the associate head coach. The Aggie men’s basketball website also lists Eric Brown as an assistant coach, who was with previous head coach Danny Sprinkle’s staff this past season.
