Nissin Foods , the Japan-based manufacturer of Cup Noodles, Top Ramen and other instant noodle products, has announced they will be awarding $10,000 in scholarships to students at two American high schools, one of which is in L.A. County.

The Nissin Foods GOOD NEIGHBOR Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have demonstrated a “well-balanced academic career with a desire to make a positive change in their communities,” the company said in a news release.

“This program wants to give a financial boost to students in need to help them achieve their aspirations to make a positive impact in both the public and private sectors, and through any number of professional careers,” the release said.

Up to two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving students attending high school in Gardena or in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Nissin Foods said.

Gardena is home to Nissin Foods’ U.S. headquarters and first manufacturing plant, while Lancaster County, Pennsylvania — located west of Philadelphia — is home to the company’s second manufacturing plant. A third plant set to open in 2025 is currently under construction in Greenville, South Carolina.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Must demonstrate a need for financial assistance by submitting FAFSA Student Aid Report along with the application form
    • Must have permanent resident status in Southern California or Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
    • Must have a letter of recommendation
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Applications are due by Friday, June 14. They can be submitted electronically to goodneighbor@nissinfoods.com
