The La Sierra Environmental Guardian Committee has asked the government to step in and put a further stop to the construction of miles of fence along the Cielo Vista Ranch property in Costilla County. Environmental degradation from the fence and its construction – namely from the egress of heavy construction equipment and its negative effects on the watershed and wildlife – are the primary concern.

The Golden Nugget Nite Club now sits abandoned on Main Street in Antonito, Colorado, but believe it or not, this boarded-up structure was once the hottest spot in town. Antonito is a statutory town of less than 700 people, located just shy of the New Mexico border. Kit Carson Electric Cooperative Signs Solar PPA
Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) announced the execution of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 10.98 MWdc solar array with 8.75 MW / 17.5 MWh of battery storage. The solar project is named Amalia II and will be constructed in Amalia, New Mexico. The PPA was signed with Guzman Energy.
Local Alert: Snow Removal on CO 17 Cumbres and La Manga Passes Today May Cause Delays
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced winter maintenance operations on Colorado Highway 17, Cumbres and La Manga Passes, on Wednesday, February 14. The operations will start at 1 p.m. and may cause delays and intermittent closures for motorists traveling southwest of Antonito, towards New Mexico. The disruptions are expected to last about two hours. Travelers should check COtrip.org for highway updates.
