STONE COUNTY, Mo. — Four people were rescued in Stone County on Tuesday after they ran into problems while floating on the James River.

According to Sheriff Doug Rader, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Highlandville Fire Department to get a boat in the water to rescue three teens and one adult around noon near the Y Bridge in Galena.

According to the sheriff, the four people had problems navigating the water, and at one point the raft overturned.

None of the four people were wearing life jackets, according to Sheriff Rader.

The sheriff says now is not the time to float due to the water being high and fast moving along with debris in the water.

    No injuries were reported.
