Pickup takes out decorative street lamp, slams into buildings on 66 in Galena

GALENA, Kan. (KOAM) — About 9:30 p.m. Thursday night reports of a crash into a building on West 7th/66 near Short Street alerted Cherokee County E-911.

Galena Fire Dept, Galena Police Dept and Cherokee County EMS responded. Kansas Highway Patrol were notified.

On scene we learn from authorities a single vehicle crash, single occupant. Pickup traveling west, crossed all lanes onto the south sidewalk taking out a decorative street lamp and slamming into two structures, 118 West 7th and 120 West 7th.

The street lamp came to rest upside down with the base resting on 118 West 7th.

Cherokee County Ambulance checked out the driver for precaution. The driver was not injured.

The structures hit were damaged but the walls/windows were not breached by the pickup.
