GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Patric Young, former Florida Gator Basketball star, is looking forward to a signing day of a different kind.
Years after the high school phenom signed his letter of intent and joined Coach Billy Donovan’s squad, the former basketball player is on a new path in life, that of a fighter and author. On Tuesday, April 30, he’ll be signing copies of his book “Sit to Rise: Turning Your Darkest Pain into Your Brightest Victory” during a live broadcast of his radio show The Young and Norvelle Show from Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The book, published after the 2014 SEC Defensive Player of the Year was involved in a single-car crash that left him unable to use his legs, details the opportunity he was given to take a life-changing accident and find the positives in life. The always-smiling Young, who enjoyed a successful college career before finding success overseas, found his life’s plans derailed but his mission more clear than ever. Since that fateful day, he’s spoken to teams and schools, helping young athletes and students realize that the only barriers in life are the ones you put in your way.
The book signing and radio show will be at Spurrier’s, a restaurant and museum that honors the long legacy of successful University of Florida athletes.
The Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier knows the weight of Young’s journey: “It’s an honor to have Patric as a member of the Gator Nation and a thrill to host his radio show at our restaurant,” Coach Spurrier said. “He is everything you want a representative of your university to be. He’s courageous, he’s humble, kind, and shows up with a super attitude every day. Patric’s a real role model for young kids today.”
Young will broadcast his show, The Young & Norvelle Show , live on the patio at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille. The Young and Norvell show broadcasts weekdays on 690 AM ESPN in Jacksonville from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this event. Young will participate in a meet & greet with fans and will sign copies of his book during the show.
