With only Class 6A kicking off the Alabama high school soccer playoffs , there were four Gadsden teams in playoff action this week.

It was a strong showing on the guys side with Gadsden City and Fort Payne boys advancing but Gadsden City and Fort Payne girls both fell in close matches.

Here's a round up of how the area teams did in the first round:

TOP PERFORMERS: Hokes Bluff softball's combined no hitter leads Gadsden area top performers

Gadsden City boys excel vs. Hartselle

    Titans 4, Tigers 1

Led by Tito Guerrero, who had a hand in each of the four goals with two goals and two assists, the Titans breezed in the first round, even on the road. Byron Felix and Zakorien Shack added goals too. Diego Marroquin and Bladmir Cervantes both added assists.

Next up: at Fort Payne, 7 p.m. Tuesday

Gadsden City girls fall to Decatur

    Red Raiders 1, Titans 0

Even with Ella Jennings' 15 saves in goal, the Titans offense struggled to get much going until late. Credit to the Decatur defense who stifled plenty of quality chances late in the game. Anna Klaire Ashley had nine tackles and steals.

The Titans end the year 11-6-2 and saw a four-game win streak to end the regular season.

Fort Payne girls fall to Hartselle

    Red Raiders 3, Wildcats 2

The Wildcats end the season with an 8-12 record.

    Fort Payne boys dominate Cullman

    Wildcats 6, Cullman 0

The Wildcats dominated Cullman, never giving them a chance in the blowout win.

    Next up: hosting Gadsden City
