When we want a break from the kitchen in the Midwest, many of us head to a local chain restaurant for our favorite meals on their menu. But for some chain restaurants in the area, that may no longer be an option for us. Especially when they abruptly close the doors and one beloved chain plans to close several more locations. Restaurants in Michigan and Ohio have now been affected.

Marion Feb 28 Weekly Crime Report
During the last week, Marion reported a total of 82 crime cases, which varied in severity. The most common crime was classified as 'Other', with 17 instances, many of which included disturbances and 911 hang-ups. This was closely followed by 15 'Suspicious Situation' cases. In terms of more severe crimes, there were 11 'Assault' and 10 'Theft' cases. 'Arrests' and 'Burglaries' were also fairly common, with 9 cases each. 'Domestic Related' crimes were reported 6 times. Less common but still of note were 2 instances of 'Vandalism', and 1 case each of 'Trespass', 'Robbery', and 'Shooting'. The data indicates a concerning level of criminal activity in the place, with a significant number of serious crimes such as assaults, thefts, and burglaries.
New EMA director introduced to village officials
Mount Gilead Village Council met the new Morrow County Emergency Management/Homeland Security (EMA) Director Michael Nelson at the opening of the Feb. 20 meeting. Nelson was introduced by current EMA Director John Harsch who is retiring. Harsch spoke about the hazard mitigation plan he presented to council and other villages in the county.
