NISH-CON focuses on fish kill aftermath
(Sidney) -- Some KMAland residents are still concerned over the impact of a recent fish kill. Speakers from around the region and state are participating in NISH-CON, a panel discussion taking place Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Fremont County Fairgrounds' McElroy Building in Sidney. Tracy Lovett is founder of the Sidney Brew and one of the event's organizers. Lovett tells KMA News NISH-CON is designed to address concerns surrounding March's fertilizer spill in Montgomery County. Almost 750,000 fish were killed in a 49.8 mile stretch of the East Nishnabotna River between NEW Cooperative and the Missouri River. Lovett says the panel is part of the Peace, Love and Mushrooms Vendor Fair taking place in the same location.
