ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Freeport wrestler Cadence Diduch has captured another national championship on the mats. This past weekend she won the 62 kg division at the USMC U20 National Championships in Spokane, Washington.

Diduch had to battle back after dropping a 10-0 tech fall to Skyler Hattendorf of New Hampshire. Diduch won her next match 6-0 earning her a rematch with Hattendorf. Diduch then pulled out a 2-1 win in that one to claim the championship.

The win qualifiers her for the U20 National Team that will compete at the U20 World Championships in Madrid, Spain in September.

Diduch has previously won two Junior National Championships in freestyle wrestling. She’s also a three-time IHSA girls’ state wrestling champion for Freeport, and a four-time overall state champion having won the IWOCA (Illinois Wrestling Coaches Association) championship her freshman year before girls’ wrestling was sanctioned by the IHSA.
