MidAmerica St. Louis Airport celebrates 25 years
Several St. Clair County officials joined others in early May to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of the original terminal at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, known in aviation as BLV. The occasion began with remarks led by Darren James, the airport’s director, and concluded with the release of confetti from “poppers” provided to those in attendance.
OHS teacher recipient of Starfish Award
Oakville High School special education teacher Katie Dowd was the receipent of the Starfish Award from the Special Education Foundation in May. The award is given to those in the Special School District of St. Louis County community “who go above and beyond to make a difference.”

Aviation Summer Academy returns to St. Louis Downtown Airport
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Saint Louis University’s Aviation Summer Academy is returning to the St. Louis Downtown Airport. Twenty-two high school seniors from eight states will participate in Saint Louis University’s Aviation Summer Academy starting June 10. The group will spend the week learning more about the aviation industry and the university’s aviation program through hands-on experiences, networking opportunities and presentations by guest speakers.
