BLAIRSVILLE STARBUCKS TO CLOSE TODAY
The Blairsville Starbucks location is closing today as part of the shutdown of 250 stores across the nation. Starbucks COO Mike Grams announced the closures yesterday, but the company did not provide a list of specific locations. He said while the majority of the chain’s 18,000 locations were doing well, there were a few that were struggling, saying they believe the places being closed cannot “consistently deliver the experience we want for customers and partners” or are not up to an acceptable financial performance. The closures represent 1% of the company’s footprint in the United States.

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Dana Siler, Cynthia Kirsch and Rob Kahn: Pittsburgh faces a climate and power challenge. Clean energy can help.
Across Southwestern Pennsylvania, summer weather has hit with a force our region’s aging infrastructure was never built to handle. In recent years, downpours have turned neighborhood streets into torrents, overwhelmed storm basins and triggered destructive hillside landslides that rip out municipal roadways and threaten homes. Hotter summers add another strain: More air-conditioning demand can increase pressure on the electric grid just as extreme rainfall is testing roads, stormwater systems and hillsides.
