Next man up: Oregon RB Brandon Smith breaks out in win vs. Northwestern
Down their top two running backs, the Oregon Ducks were put in a tricky position. Trailing 13-6 in the second quarter at home, the Ducks needed to find a spark to ignite the offense and someone to lead the backfield. In stepped the freshman, Brandon Smith . Smith's impact in the second half was immediate, carving out big plays as a runner and receiver to help the Ducks claw back into the game. The freshman tailback from Fresno, California, broke out with 82 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding four catches for 32 yards in Oregon's win over Northwestern. On just his second touch in the third quarter, Smith followed a block from Jamari Johnson on the right side and sprang free. He shook a tackle and cut back toward the midfield logo before being brought down in Northwestern territory with a 35-yard gain. On the next drive, Smith swung left and caught a pass before following another block from Johnson for a 22-yard pickup. That was the spark the Ducks needed, even if his running path doesn't always follow the script. "It's a little mysterious where he's gonna end up on the field," Johnson said. "But at the

Fans react to Fresno State's win over Oregon State. ‘Hard place to get a win'
The Fresno State football team was a +6.5-point underdog against Oregon State heading into their Pac-12 matchup at Valley Children’s Stadium on Saturday night. The Bulldogs barked all night and defeated the Beavers 38-22, handing Oregon State its first loss in conference play (now 3-1). Fresno State, on the other hand, snapped its two-game losing streak. Social media showed mixed reactions. I’ve always respected Fresno as a very tough place to play. The disgusting part is how empty their stadium is — Mid Beavs Tweets (@not_mike_riley) November 1, 2026 Fresno State stopped its two game slide while Oregon State's Braden Atkinson threw 59 passes for 373 yards. That is a ton of volume for one touchdown, and the Bulldogs happily took it. — kathrine trim (@kathrinetrim) November 1, 2026 What a quality PAC-12 loss for Oregon State against a good unranked Fresno State team. PAC-12 is such a grind this season I don’t see how you can move the Beavs down in the polls with a loss like that. — ThoseDamBeavs (@ThoseDamBeavs) November 1, 2026 Fresno State comes away with a huge win against Oregon State 38-22. What a showing from the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball. —

Roosevelt scores 60 unanswered points to extend Little Big Game streak vs Fresno
Fresno High football coach Steven Daniel dialed up some trickery when the Warriors faced Roosevelt in the 97th Little Big Game. Fresno, coming off a one-win season, wanted to go out in style in its finale. The Warriors opened with a trick play: Devon Crockett threw a swing pass to Samuel Serna, who then found a wide-open Zayden Skinner for a 60-yard touchdown, giving Fresno a surprising 15-0 lead. “We’ve got a lot of fight,” Daniel said. “The future is bright.” In the end, however, Roosevelt scored 60 unanswered points to roll to a 60-15 victory Friday night at Ratcliffe Stadium. The Rough Riders extended their Little Big Game winning streak to 10 games and will head into the playoffs, likely in Division IV. Fresno, meanwhile, will have a full offseason under Daniel to regroup and work toward turning things around next season. For now, the night belonged to Roosevelt in a game that featured several ejections. “We kind of know what kind of team we are,” Roosevelt coach Ricky McCoy said. “Once we get going, we get going. They had some fortunate plays back-to-back. Put us in a little hole, but our guys knew what we were coming out
