EASTLAKE, Ohio – Although the TinCaps slugged four home runs, the Lake County Captains’ (Guardians affiliate) offense was too much to handle in a 13-6 loss on Thursday night at Classic Auto Group Park.

Through three innings, Fort Wayne (26-34) trailed 10-0. The TinCaps’ offense turned it on in the fourth when Nerwilian Cedeño led off the inning with his third home run of the season. Right after, Jay Beshears (No. 27 Padres prospect) singled, and Devin Ortiz left the yard with a two-run homer – his fifth of the year.

The ‘Caps continued to tally runs throughout the contest. In the sixth, Beshears led off with his first High-A home run to make it a 10-4 game. In the seventh, Cedeño walked, and Beshears knocked him in with an RBI double. The TinCaps’ shortstop has nine doubles since his first game after getting called up from Single-A Lake Elsinore on May 15th — the most in the Midwest League in that span.

The scoring ended with Anthony Vilar’s third home run of the season to lead off the eighth.

Although it was a tumultuous night on the mound for Fort Wayne, reliever Tyler Morgan held his own with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. The righty didn’t allow a hit or a walk and struck out one.

Next Game: Friday, June 13 @ Lake County (7pm)

    – TinCaps Probable Starter: RHP Henry Baez (No. 30 Padres prospect)

    – Captains Probable Starter: RHP Carter Spivey
