Officers tranquilize bear in tree in Lakewood
A black bear was spotted in a Lakewood neighborhood Wednesday. Officers tranquilized it as it climbed a tree. Officers with Department of Fish and Wildlife worked to get the bear out of the tree near 47th Avenue Southwest and Lila Lane Southwest. Students at Hope Academy were put on temporary lockdown as officers worked to secure the animal. According to video sent by KIRO 7 viewers, the bear was tranquilized and caught as it fell out of the tree.

Juvenile crime is up in King County. Officials can’t agree about how to handle it
Mid a recent spike in youth crime in King County, Jon Schuldt, Renton police chief, has noticed some concerning patterns in his city. In April, a 16-year-old already on electronic home monitoring from an earlier charge allegedly killed another teen in Renton. In the same month, a 13-year-old was charged with an armed robbery he allegedly committed while out on electronic home detention. Three days later, the same boy was charged with committing a burglary in Tukwila. He was required to wear an ankle monitor after pleading guilty to two felonies last year, but had removed the devices four times, his probation officer told the judge.
Fife Police looking for missing endangered man
FIFE, Wash. - Washington State Patrol has put out a missing endangered persons alert for a man last seen at his Fife home over the weekend. According to Fife Police, 36-year-old Courtney Chase was last seen around 10 p.m. at his home on Sunday, May 12. State Patrol have not provided a neighborhood or address.
