Top Teacher: Zimmerman 1st grade teacher Nicole Schuett
ZIMMERMAN, Minn. (FOX 9) - All month long, we are recognizing the exceptional efforts of our teachers across Minnesota. Tuesday, our journey took us to Zimmerman, where another outstanding educator received the FOX 9 Top Teacher award. After receiving hundreds of nominations, the spotlight was on a first-grade teacher at Zimmerman Elementary School. Our own Tim Blotz was present for the big reveal.
Sherburne County salutes law enforcement during National Police Week
May 12-18 has been designated as National Police Week in Sherburne County by the County Board of Commissioners, to recognize all law enforcement personnel and to honor the service and sacrifice of those officers killed in the line of duty. Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office Commander Ben Zawacki read the National Police Week 2024 proclamation at the May 7 County Board meeting. In what's become a running theme this season, Rush City gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They never let the Ogilvie Lions onto the board and left with a 15-0 win. Winning may never get old, but Rush City sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Student artists celebrated by Princeton School Board
During the Princeton School Board meeting on Tuesday, May 7, the board took the time to celebrate and recognize four of the district’s most talented student artists. One student from each school in the district was selected by their art teacher to have their art displayed in the District Center for a year, and each student received a certificate of the recognition.
Kleinhans chairing Sherburne County parks committee
Dean Kleinhans has been named chair of the new Sherburne County Parks and Trails Advisory Committee and James Bedell is the vice chair. The Sherburne County Board of Commissioners established the committee in November and appointed seven members to it in January. Establishing the committee was a recommendation of the county’s new Parks and Trails Comprehensive Plan. In a related matter, the County Board on May 7 appointed Lucinda Meyers, of Palmer Township, as the District 4 representative to the parks and trails committee, after the previous appointee was no longer able to serve.
Princeton house explosion kills 2 people
PRINCETON, Minn. (FOX 9) - A house explosion in Princeton, Minnesota, killed a man, woman, and dog on Tuesday morning. Mille Lacs County Sheriff Chief Deputy Aaron Evenson said dispatch started receiving 911 calls around 4 a.m. reporting a possible explosion. Law enforcement responded at the 8200 block of 52nd Street and found a "large debris field" on fire.
Princeton Speedway Season Opener a Success with a Good Car Count and Great Race Action!
Princeton, MN (May 10) – After nearly 10 years of racing under a dual-sanctioning, the Princeton Speedway is under the management of the Wagamon Family and back to full WISSOTA Sanctioning. The track kicked off their 2024 race season Friday night with the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mod Fours, Midwest Modifieds as well as the Minnesota Micro Sprints. Nearly 100 drivers filled the pits, fans packed the stands, and everyone enjoyed a night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action.
DNR officer report May 9
District 10 - Mille Lacs area - CO Victoria Griffith (Isle) monitored area ATV-riding, turkey hunting, and angling activity. Griffith assisted with the kindergarten DNR day in Aitkin and an ATV safety class in Isle. Enforcement action was taken for angling without a license and driving an ATV in a state park. A reminder to boaters to check for all safety equipment before hitting the water for the first time this year. ...
