CAUGHT ON CAM: Tornado touches down in southwest Ark. Sunday evening
LOCKESBURG, Ark. (KSLA) - A tornado in southwest Arkansas was caught on camera Sunday evening (May 5). The National Weather Service (NWS) confirms the EF-0 tornado happened around 6:45 p.m. east-southeast of Lockesburg in Sevier County. NWS officials say the brief tornado, with winds of 70-80 mph, touched down on Red Colony Road, causing some roof shingle damage to a home and garage.
Wadley Reginal Medical Center’s parent company files for bankruptcy
TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - Wadley Regional Medical Center’s parent company, Steward Health Care System has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. On May 6, Steward Health Care System, the parent company to Wadley Regional Medical Center, and 166 of its affiliated debtors each filed for bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Food bank, letter carriers team up to help Stamp Out Hunger
TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - Leaders of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union kicked of the annual “Stamp Out Hunger Drive” in Texarkana on Tuesday (May 7). Over the next couple of days, some ArkLaTex residents will receive grocery bags from postal service workers as part of this year’s food drive. Union members are asking residents to fill the bags with non-perishable food and place them by their mailbox for pickup Saturday (May 11).
