Panthers, Lady Panthers are region champs!
The Cokeville Lady Panthers headed to the 1A West Regional Basketball Tournament in Lander Thursday, Feb. 22. They went in as the No. 1 seed from the Southwest. Their first matchup was against the Lady Longhorns of Meeteetse. The Lady Panthers took control early and advanced to the semifinal game with a 68-16 victory over the Lady Longhorns.

Punchers score decisive conference win against Kemmerer
BIG PINEY – The Big Piney High School Puncher basketball team won a decisive 58-52 conference victory against the Kemmerer Rangers at an away game on Feb. 17. A fast and furious Puncher offense netted 20 points in the opening quarter while a tenacious Big Piney defense held Kemmerer to 12 points, laying the foundation for the Punchers’ success at the end of regulation.

City balks at supporting local Lions Club derby
KEMMERER — At the start of the Kemmerer City Council meeting held on Monday, Feb. 12, the board revisited a previous request from Lions Club President Mark Ristau for the city to help support the organization’s annual ice fishing derby. Hirschi resigns from LCSD No. 2 Board

At the last meeting of the Lincoln County School District Number 2 Board of Trustees (LCSD No. 2), Wade Hirschi, trustee representing Area 1, turned in his resignation due to an impending move outside of the district. As a result, the board will be appointing a new school board member.

The 2A West Regional Wrestling Tournament featured some powerful boys' teams that will make some noise at this week's State Tournament in Casper. That 2A West Regional was held in Shoshoni and this was a boys-only tournament with the 2A West girls competing in Riverton. The Kemmerer Rangers took 1st in the team standings with 193.5 points, Thermopolis was 2nd with 178.5. Big Piney 3rd with 156.5 points, Lovell 4th with 110, and Greybull/Riverside took 5th with 103 points. Here's a look at the top two placers in each weight class.
