Pomona, Los Angeles County, CA: The Pomona Police Department announced on Monday afternoon the arrest of the suspect allegedly involved in a hit-and-run fatal traffic collision that killed two people and hospitalized a passenger on Sunday. Pomona PD identified the suspect as Erik Elias Perez, an 18-year-old resident of Pomona.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Two males were rushed to a hospital Sunday after they were shot in a neighborhood east of the Escondido (215) Freeway in Riverside. The shooting occurred around 5:10 p.m. in the 3500 block of Chicago Avenue, near Linden Street, Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback told City News Service.

On Monday, May 22, 2023, at 3:33 PM, deputies assigned to the John J. Benoit Detention Center found an unresponsive male inmate in a holding cell. Custody staff and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics and Riverside Fire personnel responded and assumed life-saving measures. The male was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

Authorities are looking into a false report of a shooting at Mills Mall in Ontario.There was a heavy police presence seen around the mall following reports of a "disturbance" around 2 p.m. on Monday.Ontario Police Chief Mike Lorenz said it was a false alarm and there is no active shooter.Authorities are currently investigating the situation.

A Riverside man was arrested this week in connection with an assault in which he allegedly assaulted another person with a sword, severing their hand. According to Riverside Police Department, the assault occurred back on May 13 at around 10 p.m., when officers were dispatched to downtown Riverside near 5th Street and Fairmount Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a person whose hand had been cut off. That person's gender, identity and condition are not currently known. During the investigation, detectives were able to determine that Stephen Daniel Dillard, a 38-year-old Jurupa Valley resident, was a suspect in the attack. He was arrested on May 23 and booked on one charge of mayhem. He was released the following day on $55,000 bail. As they continue their investigation, authorities are asking any possible witnesses of the assault to contact them at (951) 353-7213 or (951) 353-7137.

On May 27, 2023, at about 8:57 p.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a shooting in the 24800 block of Evening Shadow Court, Moreno Valley. Upon the deputies arrival they located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered immediate aid to the victims until emergency medical services arrived. The victims were subsequently transported to local hospitals for treatment. Two additional victims arrived at a local hospital and were treated for gunshot wounds. Currently, we do not have any suspect information or motive for the shooting.

A fire erupted at a recycling facility in southwestern Fontana in the early morning hours of May 26, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Crews were dispatched to the 10800 block of Etiwanda Avenue at 12:02 a.m. and found a large outdoor fire immediately threatening multiple big rigs and a warehouse. The blaze was burning in bundled cardboard materials at a recycling center, said Battalion Chief Mike McClintock.
