DUI checkpoint scheduled on West Virginia Route 2 on Saturday

BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint in Brooke County on WV State Route 2 near Mahan Lane in Follansbee.

Officials say the checkpoint will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 8 p.m. and conclude on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2 a.m.

This checkpoint will be conducted to deter drunk driving in this area.

According to officials, it is not the intention of the State Police to inconvenience any of the motoring public but to make the highways safer for those traveling in West Virginia.

Motorists wishing to avoid having to travel through the checkpoint on WV State Route 2 can simply drive around the checkpoint.

Southbound traffic can bypass the checkpoint using Mahan Lane, and northbound traffic can bypass by traveling on Mark Avenue.

The State Police asks the public to keep West Virginia’s roads safer by never operating a motor vehicle after consuming drugs or alcohol.
