PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Sunday, June 2, the Berkshire County Historical Society will offer a bird walk with Ben Nickley, Director of Berkshire Bird Observatory. Birds are miraculous! Especially in early summer when they dazzle us with bright, nuptial colors and serenade us with a profusion of happy song. On this walk, Nickley will help you find and identify many newly arrived migratory birds as you explore the historic grounds of Arrowhead.

Adams residents to vote on almost $10 million budget at town meeting Monday
Residents will consider warrant articles including an over $9.8 million operating budget, $1.2 million sewer enterprise fund, and a $6.3 million budget for the Hoosac Valley Regional School District. Article 27 asks voters in the community of around 8,000 to adopt the Mullin Rule, which would allow town officials to vote on issues involving public hearings even if they have missed a prior session of the process. As it stands, members of Adams’ boards and committees are not allowed to vote on such matters if they have been absent for even a single meeting. Other items include approving easements for bridge and culvert replacement projects, updating dog leash bylaws, and using $250,000 in free cash reserves to lower the tax rate. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Morningside Community School students smiled and pointed as they saw their own faces in the new mural on the YMCA. Last Friday, the multi-panel artwork was unveiled on North Street amidst a sea of bubbles and children's laughter. Clarksburg voters send Community Preservation Act to this year’s ballot, approve right to farm bylaw at town meeting
Residents in the community of around 1,700 at the northern border of Berkshire County gathered in the town school to quickly approve every article on the town meeting warrant, including an almost $1.8 million operating budget – down $114,000 from the current year – and an almost $3 million school budget, up around $130,000 from fiscal year 2024. Every vote was unanimous except for one: the decision to put the commonwealth’s Community Preservation Act funding mechanism for Clarksburg on this year’s ballot.
