Commissioners announce new Family & Children First Council coordinator

NEW LEXINGTON — The Perry County commissioners announced at their weekly meeting on Wednesday that Karen Chennells was recently hired as the new Perry County Family and Children First Council coordinator. They explained that the council was very excited to get the position filled, and described Chennells as someone who already has experience within the complex world of social services and with the Board of Developmental Disabilities. They also agreed to allow board President Scott Owen to sign a change order for Junction City’s drainage, sidewalks and storm sewer revisions, which are part of an ongoing revitalization project. As another part of the revitalization project, he was authorized to sign an amendment regarding an extension for HAPCAP. This also applied to a neighborhood revitalization project in Shawnee. Later, they authorized him to sign a resolution to apply for acceptance into the Water Supply Revolving Loan Account. This will allow for the county to continue planning, designing and constructing water lines and extensions. They also authorized Owen to sign a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the Perry County airport regarding a change order, and to sign a one-time disposal request for obsolete records from the sheriff’s office.
