Fire damages three homes, business garage in Flatwoods, Kentucky

UPDATE (4:34 P.M. March 26, 2024) – Three homes and a business’s garage have been damaged after a fire in Flatwoods, Kentucky.

According to Flatwoods Fire Chief Brent Dean, the fire that broke out on Argillite Road this afternoon has been put out. He says crews are working to spot clear and control what little flames are still active.

Dean tells WOWK 13 News that no one was injured in the fire, but three homes and Tri-State Enterprise’s garage were damaged. There is no word on the cause of the fire, but the fire chief says it is believed to be accidental.

According to Dean, Argillite Road will remain closed for at least two more hours due to the response.


FLATWOODS, KY (WOWK) – Crews are responding to the scene of a structure fire at a commercial property in Greenup County, Kentucky.

According to Greenup County E-911, the fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at Tri-State Enterprises on Argillite Road in Flatwoods at the top of Wheeler Hill.

The scene is considered “very active,” and the public is asked to avoid this area as well as Lester Street and Beth Ann Drive due to the response.
