A Streator woman has been given prison time for her role in a fatal shooting. Thirty-seven-year-old Rachael Carter was in an Ottawa courtroom Thursday where she was sentenced to 4 years in prison on charges of being a felon in possession of a weapon and aiding a fugitive. In exchange for pleading guilty, an additional felon in possession of a weapon charge was dropped.

PEORIA (25News Now) - A new problem-solving court in McLean County will soon help reunite families where substance abuse issues are involved. It’s called “Family Treatment Court”, and McLean County is the first to do this in the state. Court Coordinator Kaitlynn Stigall said she hopes the program will start in March or April.
Streator Man Picked Up on Drug, Resisting Charges
A Streator man is facing trouble on a few fronts. Trident drug agents on Tuesday arrested 33-year-old Keith Gullens. Gullens was arrested after a Trident agent found him in a pickup truck near his home on Lundy Street in Streator. Agents say Gullens refused to comply with the agents' demands, and was found to be holding about 2-and-a-half grams of purported crack cocaine. He's charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. That's a Class-4 felony. Gullens is also charged with resisting a peace officer, a Class-A misdemeanor.

Group Of Streator Firefighters Publicly Commended For Saving A Life
The new year started with acts of bravery by members of the Streator Fire Department. At this week's Streator City Council meeting, leaders recognized 8 members of the Streator Fire Department and Streator EMS for their efforts in saving a life. Back on January 1st, the heroes arrived at the scene of a burning home and found a person unable to escape the flames. A mayor's proclamation says the firefighters put the safety and well-being of others above their own by successfully executing the rescue of an unconscious victim.
