    Gray's Creek junior UNCP softball commit is your 910Preps Athlete of the Week; April 22-27

    It was your choice. Now, the 910Preps Athlete of the Week voting results are in.

    Seven nominees highlighted this week's 910Preps Athlete of the Week ballot, and 10,647 votes were placed for April 22-27 votes.

    With 4,097 votes (38.5%), Gray's Creek UNC-Pembroke commit Amariya Green came out on top for 910Preps Athlete of the Week April 22-27. Green put together one of the best performances of the season at the plate on Friday in an upset win over Cape Fear for Gray's Creek. The junior Bear tacked on two home runs and two doubles that tallied up to six RBIs on the night.

    Green's teammate, Hannah Welsh came in second with 2,229 votes for her performances last week.

    SOUTH VIEW'S SIGNINGS: Two of South View's record-breaking athletes sign with HBCUs

    Jamya Harris, Pine Forest - Harris was spectacular in the circle for the Trojans against Overhills on Thursday. The junior pitcher tossed 17 strikeouts in the 3-2 win and only allowed one hit.

    Rylan Miller, Freedom Christian - The Marshall commit continued to shine last week for the Patriots during their undefeated season. Over a two-game span, Miller threw 15 strikeouts from the circle. During the week she also hit a home run and picked up four RBIs on Monday.

    Jordynn Parnell, South View - Parnell continues to excel this season. Last week, the sophomore pitcher recorded 42 total strikeouts, including a 20-strikeout game that broke her own single-game record on Thursday. On Friday, Parnell picked up 12 strikeouts and succeeded at the plate with a home run, two doubles, and three RBIs.

    Ethan Plesser, Cape Fear - Plesser's dominance continues to life the Colts in a major way. In an 11-1 win over Lumberton, the senior ace threw for 12 strikeouts and only allowed three hits.

    Wilson Stowers, Freedom Christian - Stowers was stellar on the mound for the Patriots in their sole win of the week over Fayetteville Christian. Stowers threw 13 strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

    Hannah Welsh, Gray's Creek - The Bears junior had a great week in the circle and at the plate that led to a 3-0 week for Gray's Creek. Welsh tallied nine strikeouts and allowed no hits against Pine Forest, while picking up a home run and five RBIs against Cape Fear.

    Coaches and athletic directors can nominate a player for athlete of the week by sending nominations to jfmoore@gannett.com by noon Sunday. Include the player's name, year in school, accomplishments for the week and a headshot.
