The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its athletes of the week, and Kyron Kelly North Carolina Wesleyan University has been named the Mens Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward from Fayetteville, North Carolina averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and three blocks per game last week as the Battling Bishops posted a 2-0 record. In an 88-58 win over Mid-Atlantic Christian, Kelly scored 25 points with nine rebounds, three blocks and one assist. In a 72-71 overtime victory over Apprentice, Kelly notched a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along three blocks.

NCHSAA votes to expand classifications from four to eight in 2025-26
The NCHSAA voted unanimously Wednesday to increase its number of classifications from four to eight, starting with the 2025-26 school year. Currently, teams are put into one of four classifications based on averaged daily membership (ADM) numbers from the previous year. The ADM will still determine which classification teams fall into, but those options are now doubled.
