    ‘Accidental’ shooting at McFee Park under investigation after one injured

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An investigation is underway after a woman was shot in the foot at McFee Park in Farragut. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office shared that the incident is believed to be accidental at this time.

    KCSO shared that units were dispatched to call at McFee Park around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday about a woman who had been shot in the foot. The sheriff’s office said that it is unknown where the bullet came from as the park is near a wooded area. KCSO and the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office are searching the area.

    The victim was taken to the hospital. KCSO said that her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

    “Knox County Major Crimes Detectives believe this to be an accidental incident at this time. However, the investigation is in the preliminary fact gathering phase and this could change if more information becomes available,” wrote a spokesperson for KCSO.
