A man allegedly was caught with nearly 2 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle in Faribault.

The Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force was investigating Nicholas Sean Tijerina, 37, of Le Center, and obtained a warrant to search him and his SUV.

Agents pulled him over near the Faribault hospital on Tuesday, according to a court complaint.

Tijerina allegedly had a baggie with over 32 grams of meth in his pocket. A bag in the vehicle allegedly had three baggies with about 444, 206 and 210 grams of meth.

Other items found in the vehicle allegedly included drug paraphernalia, sheets of paper listing names and dollar amounts, and multiple identification and Social Security cards, bank documents, mail, altered checks, two cellphones, $324 cash and a wire transfer receipt for over $2,000.

Tijerina was arrested and allegedly admitted he had about 2 pounds of meth and that he planned to distribute the three largest bags of the drug.

Tijerina was charged with felony counts of drug sales and possession Thursday in Rice County District Court. Bail was set at at least $100,000.

He has five recent convictions for drug possession but none for drug sales, according to court records.
