Pleasanton, Jourdanton compete in SQT
Just a few plays separated both Jourdanton and Pleasanton from advancing to the championship game in their state-qualifying 7-on-7 tournament over the weekend. The Indians finished Saturday with a 1-2 record and lost both their games but just one point. They fell to Navarro 20-19 and Lytle 21-20 before closing out the morning with a 12-6 win over Hondo. They fell behind by a score in the opening possession both losses.

BEAT THE HEAT AND HELP KEEP KARNES COUNTY COOL
Karnes County cares about the community. In anticipation of another hot summer season, Karnes County officials want to ramp up efforts to help their constituents by distributing fans to those who need them. Some community members do not have or cannot afford air conditioning or adequate cooling supplies. Karnes County will be accepting fan donations. “We are asking the community to help us help our citizens by donating new fans if they can,” Shelby Dupnik, Commissioner Precinct 2/Emergency Management Coordinator, said.

Strays to lifesavers
Atascosa Animal Allies has helped almost 6,000 pets since it was formed in October of 2017. We are addressing the overpopulation of stray and unwanted pets in our county through adoptions, transferring animals out of the county, working with Pleasanton Animal Control and Atascosa County Animal Control and by holding reduced cost or free spay/neuter and vaccine clinics.
