2 rescued from 43-foot boat taking on water in Lake Huron
ALCONA COUNTY, MI – Two people were rescued from a boat that was taking on water in Lake Huron. Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard Station Tawas and Alcona County Sheriff’s Office each rescued one person from the 43-foot trawler which ran aground near the Black River on Tuesday.

The New Sunrise Senior Center Being Constructed in Lincoln
A new senior center is being constructed in Lincoln. “We’re building a community center slash senior center. It will have a large gym that will have basketball, pickleball and volleyball,” Construction Manager Andy Shaw said. The Alcona County Commission on Aging received a grant to build the Sunrise Center, and construction is in progress. “As you enter, we’ll have a big, beautiful entrance for the fireplace. It’s going to be just really comfortable and hopefully very inviting. So, they’ll have a brand-new kitchen and dining area. They can have events and then a whole new office area for the ACC,” said Shaw.

PICKFORD - The Hillman Tigers travelled to Pickford today to battle the Hancock Bulldogs in Quarterfinal softball action. The Tigers scored three times in the first and second innings, and once in the third and fifth innings. The Tigers had an explosive 6th inning with four additional runs. Sophomore pitcher Gretchen Welland was spectacular on the mound today pitching the no-hit shut-out as the Tigers win 12-0 in six innings. MSP & K-9 track down man who fled scene of crash
A Michigan State Police trooper from Alpena and his K-9 helped track down a suspect in Oscoda who allegedly fled the scene of an automobile crash last month. Trooper Scruggs and his canine partner, Waco, responded to the area of Abbe Road near Eming Road in Comins Township on May 27, to track a 38 year-old man who was allegedly involved in an auto crash and then fled from Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were on scene.
