A solo blast to left field off the bat of Clinton's Gavin Wesling proved to be the most important hit of the game as the Cougars beat Evansville in a Rock Valley Conference Rock Division pitching duel.

Logan Thill earned the win for hosting Clinton (5-4, 2-3) as he pitched a stellar 6 2/3 innings while allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out nine. Wesling came in and got the final out via strikeout.

Wesling added a single as did Bryce Phillips and Tyler Moe against the Blue Devils (3-7, 2-3) pitcher Wyatt Nelson, who allowed just four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
